Eurep GAP (www.eurepgap.org) was established in 1997 as a private initiative of retailers belonging to the Euro-Retailer Produce Working Group (EUREP). It has subsequently evolved into a partnership of agricultural and food producers and their retail customers.
Benefits of Eurep GAP:
to develop widely accepted standards and procedures for the global certification of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
Essentials of Euro G.a.p:
- helped producers comply with Europe-wide accepted criteria for food safety,
- sustainable production methods,.
- worker and animal welfare and responsible use of water,
- compound feed and plant propagation materials.
Harmonized certification also meant savings for producers, as they would no longer need to undergo several audits against different criteria every year.
